What to Know When State, Federal COVID-19 Emergency Declarations End

With California’s COVID-19 state of emergency ending on February 28 and the federal declaration ending on May 11, people may be wondering if they can still get their shots and boosters, and if so, what How.

After these dates, local pharmacies and medical facilities will continue to give the bivalent vaccine or Paxlovid anti-COVID tablets free of charge. But the government will no longer cover these costs; instead, they will be paid by private and public health insurance plans.
