Wednesday’s Baby: Janetta, 15, wants a second chance to be someone’s daughter
“I just want to be adopted by someone who loves the same things as me, like travel and music, because I want to explore the world when I’m older,” she said.
DALLAS is a story about love, loss and the search for happiness. Janette just turned 15 and wants a second chance to be someone’s daughter. This is what her mother would like.
Gianetta is a child of our environment.
Janetta’s mother adopted her as a single mother when she was a few months old. She showed the WFAA her childhood photographs in her mother’s loving arms.
“She taught me to love and treat people the way you want to be treated,” she said of her mother.
Janetta lost her mother a few years ago, but she never gave up hope despite being placed in foster care.
“I just want love. It really is,” the teenager said.
At Rocking M Stables in Dallas, Janetta felt love all around her. Riding instructor Carey Hopkins helped Janette relax and Ursula the horse did the rest.
“At first it was a little scary because she is quite tall, but once I started to breathe and allow myself to relax, everything became very easy,” she said of riding Ursula.
Jeanette had the best seat in the house on top of a horse, instilling confidence, dignity and hope.
“I just want to be loved and feel loved by other people,” she said.
Recently, on her 15th birthday, Jeanette made a wish to be adopted.
“I just want to be adopted by someone who loves the same things as me, like travel and music, because I want to explore the world when I’m older,” she said.
Janetta wants to travel the world singing Justin Bieber songs at the top of her lungs and holding out her hands to others.
“I put others before myself and think of myself as someone who sees others in need and can help them,” she said of the kindness her mother taught her.
“I just know what she wants from me because she instilled so many things in me,” she said.
Guided by her mother from above, Jeanette rides with the unshakable belief that her mother is watching over her from heaven and will lead Jeanette to her eternal family.
“Words can’t describe how much I miss her and how much I think about her all the time.”
