Weather shelters in North Texas need volunteers

With a winter storm creating dangerous conditions, there has been an increased need for shelter for those left homeless.

DALLAS — Severe weather shelters have opened up across North Texas due to icy conditions created by a winter storm, and they are in dire need of volunteers.

The shelters opened in Dallas and Collin counties have remained full since they opened, and most are run by volunteers.

Ways for volunteers to help include providing transportation, providing food, and volunteering to help shelter staff.
