Weather-related power outages return as Central Coast recovers from latest storm

CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION-TV) — Thousands of people have been left without power on the Central Coast as storms rage early Saturday morning and cause more weather problems.

More than 6,500 people were left without power on the Monterey Peninsula, including Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pacific Grove, Monterey and Pebble Beach.

PG&E cites “weather” as the reason people were also left without power on Castroville Boulevard east of Moss Landing.

The Santa Cruz Mountains are experiencing massive power outages at Felton, Boulder Creek, Ben Lomond, and the northwestern edge of Wilder Ranch State Park. Some of them are related to hardware issues, according to PG&E.

According to PG&E, Capitola Wharf is out of power and could be shut down for another two days. These outages affect just over 1,000 customers.

Almost 1,500 people are in the dark on the beaches of La Selva and Manresa. This outage also applies to some areas along Highway 1 up to Liberty Boulevard.
