We bought a storage house full of Bibles and pornography: “Can’t open the door”

It came as an unholy shock.

The apparently guilt-ridden curmudgeon who loved both his faith and porn ran away from home, leaving behind his entire collection of anti-rating and religious material, which later caused problems for the new owners of the house.

Sidney Lima, 27, and her boyfriend Kieran Walsh, also 27, were desperately looking for an apartment when they stumbled upon a three-story house in Jersey City, New Jersey that was cheaper than most apartments.

Booking a viewing in February 2022, the couple made the unholy discovery that the entire house was littered from floor to ceiling with pornography, Bibles and other junk.

Both Lima and Walsh recall tiptoeing through three-foot piles of rubbish in a two-bedroom house.

“You couldn’t get in the door, there were so many things in there, it’s crazy,” Lima told Jam Press. “When we finally entered, I was just stunned. I have never experienced anything like it.”

The hopeful homeowner said there was “not an inch of the house that wasn’t full.”

“I feel like I was in the human brain. There were so many unnecessary things that it was impossible to walk without tripping,” she continued. “Things were everywhere, but at the same time they were so organized, it was so amazing.”

“The biggest thing we found in the house were books. He had books everywhere,” recalls Lima. “There was no part of the house where books were not stacked.”

Lima also revealed that the previous tenant apparently kept every letter he ever received.

“He was just a very ironic person,” Lima recalled. “He had so many religious things, like things for the Catholic Church and the Bible, and he also had a lot of porn.”

In April 2022, the couple decided to breathe new life into the apartment and began clearing out shelving.

“I’m into vintage fashion and I only shop at second hand and secondhand stores, so I thought, ‘I’m taking charge, my dream has come true,'” Lima said. “I feel like that’s how it should have been.”

She said they first started with “all the little things like mail” and then moved on to books, trash and various other items.

"We found this bookstore nearby, where we took all the books," Lima said. ""We probably went back and forth about 20 times with a big truck full of books and they welcomed them with open arms."

Lima recalled that she went to the local store many times, where she was able to return home several truckloads of custodian books.

“We found a nearby bookstore where we took all the books,” Lima said. “We probably went back and forth about 20 times with a big truck full of books and they welcomed them with open arms.”

However, the couple didn’t throw everything away. According to Lima, both she and her boyfriend kept a few records, glasses and vintage Playbill covers to use as decoration.

“It really consumed my brain. I’m really amazed by what we found inside, and then it’s simply unrealistic to see the transformation, ”Lima laughed. “I’m so excited to just make it mine, make it cozy and try to incorporate some of the things we found in the house into our home.”

After a year of hard work, Lima said she loved the process and the couple are excited to move in later this month.

“I keep thinking about how lucky I am to have this treasure inside of it all,” Lima said. “I can see into the past and live in a place that we built with our own hands.”
