Comedian Dave Chappelle joked last year that he would never return to the “dusty asses” of Napa’s fields, but nonetheless he is set to return to wine country for the second annual Blue Note Jazz Festival at the Silverado Resort this July. . Blue Note’s seasonal concert series, Summer Sessions, will also follow suit, moving to a posh resort this May with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-worthy lineup.

After a 20-year hiatus, legendary Primus bassist Les Claypool will reunite with his Fearless Flying Frog Brigade at the Summer Sessions kickoff concert on May 19th. Animals completely, which is quite appropriate, given that the group includes Harry Waters, the son of Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters. But the rock and roll royalty doesn’t stop there: Sean Lennon is also a member of the band and will make his debut with Fearless Flying Frogs. The son of Beatles founder John Lennon previously shared the stage with Claypool at the Claypool Lennon Delirium. The backdrop for the reunion of the royal family of rock and roll will be 1,200 acres of vineyards, oak groves and a 36-hole golf course at the Silverado Resort.

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris wraps up her opening weekend on May 21st. Jazz artist Chris Botti and contemporary pop singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright will join later this summer. Rounding out June is a mini-festival of alternative Latin American music featuring Los Angeles-based rockers La Santa Cecilia and Las Cafeteras, as well as La Misa Negra from Oakland. Folksongwriter Judy Collins stops by for a special performance on July 7, and stand-up comedian and actor Marlon Wayans performs on July 15 to promote his new Netflix special God Loves Me.
