Wall Streeter Jean-Charles Bériot claims ex lied about having STDs, drugs and whores

Merrill Lynch’s financial manager was forced out of his job out of shame after his ex sent out emails falsely claiming he hired prostitutes, had a sexually transmitted disease and used drugs, according to a $7 million lawsuit.

Jean-Charles Bériot, 47, who has been in a nasty divorce since 2020 from Thea D. Shive, 65, claims she also sent messages to his new job as a private wealth advisor at Morgan Stanley, prompting an investigation by side of the company’s personnel department.

“[I’ll] show everyone the huge pile of STD bills you’ve accumulated during COVID,” dentist Shaive allegedly threatened in January 2022.

“You must use a condom for your own sake,” the message says. “Perhaps you would like to find a cleaner prostitute.

The couple signed a prenuptial agreement and married in 2005, but the relationship began to deteriorate in 2018, said a spokesman for Beriau, who worked at Merrill Lynch for more than 15 years as a trader and hedge fund before he claims he was forced to change jobs. in May.

The childless couple shared a home in posh Oyster Bay, Louisiana, where they had a boat in their driveway before Beriau, an avid big game hunter who frequently goes on safari to Africa, moved to Manhattan. .

According to the lawsuit, the messages were sent by Beriau to his company’s email address. Beriau’s lawyer noted that the account is monitored by Beriau’s superiors and messages can be seen by his assistant and others.

One of the letters said:[It] it looks like you don’t want a divorce and are dragging it out indefinitely. I will never take you back, you are vile. I know that you have bipolar disorder and traumatic brain injury, and you are not capable of rational thinking.

In another nasty note, Shaive accused Beriau of having “herpes, syphilis, trichomoniasis and various other problems… There is no greater proof of your severe mental illness than the fact that you continue to use my address when you are being treated for STDs.” [sic]”.

She also informed Beriau’s wealthy clients and his relatives that he was under investigation for a securities fraud case he accused in the lawsuit.

Shive knew the messages were false when she sent them, Berio said in his Manhattan Supreme Court case against his ex.

“The content of the emails was completely fabricated and false,” Beriau’s lawyer, Karen McGuire, said in a statement. “Those emails to him were from left field. And he is a very patient, very professional gentleman who thought it would bring down the escalation, but it didn’t.”

Shive violated a court order in a divorce suit ordering her to cut off contact with Beriau and was forced to pay a fine last year, according to McGuire and court records. McGuire did not disclose the amount of the fine.

“He wanted to respectfully part with his wife,” McGuire said. “It shouldn’t have been like this, but it happened.”

Neither Shive nor her attorney responded to messages for comment.
