Wait… Tiger King star Carol Baskin’s husband isn’t dead yet?

Carol Baskin — star of Tiger King and owner of Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida — has been the subject of repeated accusations from viewers of the hit NetFlix documentary series that she may have been behind the disappearance of her ex-husband Don Lewis, who was officially declared dead in 2002 after having disappeared several years earlier.

However, last year’s interview with Baskin recently went viral in which she revealed that her husband may actually be alive and well and is currently living in Costa Rica.

During an interview with ITV’s This Morning in 2001, Baskin stated that Lewis had been seen in the Central American country and that the Department of Homeland Security contacted her husband and confirmed that he was indeed alive.

The rehab specialist said she only found out about Lewis’ bizarre resurrection after the Tiger King 2 sequel aired.

“One of the really exciting things that came out of Tiger King 2 is that they introduced a letter from the Department of Homeland Security saying that the special agent in charge of the FBI at the Department of Homeland Security contacted Sheriff Detective George . [Jorge] Fernandez, which means that it had to happen after 2002, because before 2002 the internal security service did not exist, ”Baskin said in an interview with ITV.

“They said my husband Don Lewis is alive and well in Costa Rica,” she continued. “And yet all this drama was made because I have something to do with his disappearance, when the National Security Service knows where he is.”

It is not known why this revelation barely made it into the public eye at the time, nor why it suddenly appeared in the media just now.

Over the years, Baskin has been accused—due to the unusual circumstances of Lewis’s disappearance—of conspiring to kill him, although no concrete evidence has ever emerged to support this.

However, until Lewis actually shows up in person for an interview, there will likely still be a portion of the Tiger King audience who will still claim that Baskin “destroyed” him as part of some nefarious scheme. Time will show!
