According to the announcement, she will continue to represent Volusia County in the state Teacher of the Year program.

Volusia County Schools reported that Morris teaches Probability and Statistics and AP Statistics at the school, has been a math teacher for 28 years, and has taught at the middle, tertiary, and university levels.

“My students taught me and shared with me many of their life experiences. In doing so, they succeeded in inspiring and shaping me. I desperately want all students entering my presence to feel confident about who they are, what they can do, and how they can positively influence others. I am inspired by the songs and dances that I share with students when I teach them. There is nothing more exciting than having students sing and dance with me and then listen to Mrs. Morris, I’ve never really understood math until now! My heart melts and I am inspired to become the best educator I can be, helping my students with math and life lessons as they keep me up to date with generational jargon,” said Morris.

The VCS Teacher of the Year Awards took place on Friday, January 20 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort.

The Volusia County Schools statement went on to say that “Morris is a leader whose work goes beyond the classroom, he is a member of the school’s leadership team, chair of the math department, liaison with new teachers, class sponsor, and chair of the sunshine committee. Her test scores are above the county, national and state averages.”
