Volunteers continue recovery work to help victims of Tuesday’s tornado

On Saturday, cleanup work was still ongoing in Pasadena and Deer Park, two of the hardest hit areas.

PASADENA, Texas. Those affected by Tuesday’s tornado have a long road to recovery.

On Saturday, cleanup work was still ongoing in Pasadena and Deer Park, two of the hardest hit areas.

The elderly parents of Pasadena resident Bryce Cruz were among those who considered them blessings.

“They were both inside when the storm hit and they got through it,” Cruz said. “Fortunately nothing happened to them.”

However, their home in Pasadena was destroyed.

“She said it just sounded like a bunch of bricks just hit the roof,” Cruz said.

However, they do not go through this alone.

“When you need help, that’s what God calls us to do,” said one volunteer.

An entire community was devastated, yet volunteers said neighbors were sending teams to those who needed help most.

“They had a lot of work ahead of them, so we’re glad we joined them,” volunteer Jeff McDonald said.

His group was among dozens of volunteers who came to Asbury United Methodist Church on Saturday seeking help.

Volunteers met at the church, located at 5354 Space Center Boulevard in Pasadena, to split into teams to help with tarps on rooftops, remove drywall and clean up debris.

“It’s definitely a humbling experience when complete strangers come in and help,” Cruz said.
