Video shows how scammers stole $52,000 worth of merchandise from Givenchy’s chic New York

CCTV footage captures the moment four brazen thieves stole $52,000 worth of luxury items from designer Givenchy’s Soho store.

A recently released video shows three men and a woman stealing wildly from a posh boutique on Green Street just off Spring Street in Manhattan’s trendy neighborhood just before 7:30 a.m. Saturday, breaking in by smashing the door window with a hammer.

The suspects enter the store – one by one – before pulling designer bags off the shelves and stuffing them into large duffel bags and backpacks.

One of the suspects is shown walking alone to the back of the store and pulling several pieces of clothing off a hanger in one fell swoop, still with hangers.

According to the police, their booty included bags, shoes and clothes.

After the robbery, the team ran north along Green Street towards West Houston Street.

The suspected woman is in her 30s, about 5’8″ and weighs 150 pounds, while one of her male co-conspirators was in her 30s and the other two were in their 50s, police said.

Surveillance footage, also released by the NYPD, shows close-ups of each of the suspects.

The store’s security alarm was not activated during the break-in on the main level, and the door bars were not down because a security guard was on duty, police sources said on the day of the incident.

It is not clear where the guard was while the thieves ransacked the shelves.

The store usually opens at 11:00 am on Saturdays, but Givenchy Soho delayed opening until 3:00 pm that day due to the incident, a store employee said, adding: “It’s okay.”

Givenchy Soho opened in June as the brand’s second store in New York City, with a second store uptown on Madison Avenue.

A post-analysis of police data earlier this month found that reported retail theft in the Big Apple hit an all-time high for the second year in a row in 2022.

Statistics show that shoplifting complaints rose to more than 63,000 last year — up 45% from the roughly 45,000 reported in 2021 and nearly 275% more than in the mid-2000s.

Mayor Eric Adams emphasized his desire to crack down on unrepentant shoplifters during his testimony at the annual budget hearing in Albany.

“What we can’t do is allow repeat offenders to mock our criminal justice system—more than once!” He said.

“We are losing chain stores that are closing. The people who work in these stores are losing their jobs. They increase our unemployment.

“So people who say we criminalize the poor are wrong,” Hizzoner added. “Poor and low-income New Yorkers are out of work because we’re losing these businesses in our city.”
