VIDEO: Debari man hid from deputies in swamp after peeking through woman’s window, officials say

The DeBary man was found hiding from police in a swampy area Thursday after being caught looking out of the woman’s window several times, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

MPs said Stephen P. Johnson, 29, was charged with loitering or prowling and resisting an officer without violence.

Deputies responded to the Rivington area on Saturday after a woman reported that a neighbor’s camera had caught Johnson looking out her window three times, the sheriff’s office said.

According to deputies, the first incident occurred on January 8.

While on patrol Thursday night, Johnson ran away from the MP and hid in marshland near the area.

Authorities said they were able to locate him using a drone.

The sheriff’s office said Johnson lives in the same area and he blames his behavior on mental illness and uncontrollable urges.

Johnson was held on $1,000 bail but was released Friday morning.
