Utah Jazz player lists lakefront Michigan mansion for $3.5M

This freshly former Detroit Piston is selling his crib. 

The recently traded Kelly Olynyk has put his Oakland County, Michigan, abode on the market. News of this listing follows the 31-year-old’s September trade to the Utah Jazz. 

The Canadian-born NBA player’s single-family ranch is priced at $3.5 million. Ashley Crain and Jill Laskey, of The Agency Hall & Hunter, are marketing the spread.  

The lakefront estate is set on close to an acre of “brand-new contemporary landscape,” according to the listing. 

The residence was originally designed by the late architect Irving Tobocman, who was killed in a 2017 car crash at the age of 84. A world-renowned mind who hailed from Birmingham, Michigan, Tobocaman was known for his contemporary creations.

“I would call him a modern master,” architect Victor Saroki told the Detroit Free Press of his work following his death. “He grew up in that era of architecture and was quite prominent in the Birmingham/Bloomfield area for a lot of the modern homes he did.”

The main house has more than 5,000 square feet of interior space and “panoramic views” of Island Lake. 

The sleek, modern abode underwent a drastic renovation in 2020, which took the structure “down to the studs.” It was then rebuilt with custom matte porcelain floors, built-in-equipped Italian closets and a home automation system. The compound has tall ceilings throughout, a necessity for its former 6’11” occupant. 

The primary suite is located on the first floor and has a fireplace, an ensuite bath and a sprawling room-sized closet. On the second floor there are three more bedrooms, two with ensuite baths. (In total there are four bedrooms and four bathrooms.)

In terms of outdoor amenities, the home has a patio and a dock on the lake — as well as a covered lounge area and plenty of lawn space. There’s even a makeshift basketball hoop set at the end of the driveway.
