Upset U-Haul driver says deadly Brooklyn rage was ‘doomsday’ for his 9 victims

A deranged driver accused of hitting nine strangers in a U-Haul truck called his bizarre rampage “doomsday” for alleged enemies, a Brooklyn prosecutor said Wednesday.

“The defendant said he wanted to hit the people who worried him the most,” prosecutor David Ingle told Brooklyn Criminal Court at the arraignment of accused murderer Wen Sor. “(He said), ‘That’s why I hit them. This is judgment day. I wanted to finish by destroying the enemies. Shoot me, I won’t give up.”

Wen Sor is being escorted out of the NYPD's 68th Precinct in Brooklyn on Tuesday.

The 62-year-old suspect yelled at police to open fire as he was taken into custody on Monday after 90 minutes of terror in which one victim was killed, another was left to fight for his life, and seven others were injured from fractures to bruises.

Sor, who traveled to New York from Florida in a rented U-Haul truck, was held without bail and placed in pre-trial detention on March 16. He stood with his head down, wearing camouflage pants and a leather jacket in court.

“This defendant is charged with second-degree murder,” Ingle said. “He faces multiple charges of attempted murder… for hitting individuals.”

A U-Haul truck on Columbia Street and Hamilton Avenue in Brooklyn on Monday after being pulled over by police.

The accused was arrested on Monday after the fatal and unprovoked attack, when Sor told police he was hallucinating before proceeding with the violence. His lawyer raised questions about the defendant’s mental health.

“At this point, I have serious concerns about Mr. Sor’s ability to assist in his own defense,” defense attorney Andrew Friedman said. “I’m asking for a court order for a psychiatric examination.”
