UCF Officer Body Camera Shows Rescue of Student Trapped in Overturned Car

(WSVN) – A University of Central Florida (UCF) student was stranded right in front of the windshield in an accident.

Body camera footage shows cops running towards the overturned SUV, while a young woman is trapped behind the windshield.

Now she has one more reason to be grateful to the campus police.

“When I get there, I understand that there is a lamppost knocked over and the lamppost is knocked over with electrical wires,” said UCF officer Isabella Sanchez.

Officers noticed live wires surrounding the car and a fluid leak; that’s when they started to beat the glass with clubs.

Another officer, Anthony Mancuso, donned thick gloves and began pushing back the glass.

They leave enough room to get the woman out safely, but in the process, Mancuso realized that the glass had cut him.

“There was a lot of blood on the floor, but I realized that it was not the driver, but my partner,” said UCF officer Allison Sienkiewicz.

The officer is still on sick leave and received seven stitches but is doing well.

As for the driver, she later explained that she had just finished a long shift at work and was yawning before she crashed.

The campus police said it was a reminder of how dangerous it is to drive when tired.
