Two students are arrested for allegedly bringing knives to the Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa.

Two students were arrested over the weekend for bringing knives to the same Santa Rosa school campus where a boy was stabbed to death two weeks ago.

In a press release sent out on Monday, Santa Rosa police said a pair of Montgomery High School students were arrested after school officials found them with knives on campus.

According to police, school officials were alerted via a social media post to the possibility that a student could bring weapons to school.

When the 15-year-old student was called to the office, police said he was allegedly seen passing something, which turned out to be a five-inch-bladed folding knife, to the 17-year-old.

While searching the 17-year-old’s backpack, school officials allegedly found a 7.5-inch fixed-blade knife.

Both boys were punished and sent home with their parents, police said.

They were both then arrested on Saturday on suspicion of possessing weapons on school property, police said.

Their names have not been released because they are minors.

Police officials said they first learned about the knives from a parent who called the department around 4:40 p.m. Friday and said the school had sent a notice of the incident to the parents.

Police officials said school officials contacted the department at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

On Monday, Santa Rosa School District officials announced on their website that Montgomery High School principal Adam Paulson and assistant principal Tyler Alborn are on vacation and that former principal Laurie Fong will serve as principal for the rest of the school year.

Superintendent Anna Trannell did not provide any other information about the action.

Sixteen-year-old Montgomery High School student Jaden Jess Pienta was fatally shot on March 1 during a fight in art class, and the 15-year-old was charged with premeditated manslaughter.

A week later, a 15-year-old student was found with a large hunting knife in his backpack at another school in Santa Rosa, Amaros Academy. The student was arrested and prosecuted on suspicion of possessing dangerous weapons on campus, police said.

Police officials said they are sending an officer to the Montgomery campus on Monday and Tuesday, and officers will conduct security checks at other district high schools.
