Trump gains momentum in new 2024 poll, results should have made Biden shake in his boots

The 2024 presidential race promises to be eternal.

As President Joe Biden and his handlers decide whether or not to run for a second term amid multiple scandals, former President Donald Trump is taking forceful steps. And those moves seem to be paying good early dividends in the polls.

In a Washington Post-ABC News poll conducted Jan. 27 through Feb. 1 respondents were asked who they would support if the elections were held today. Trump scored 48% to Biden’s 45%.

While it’s certainly close on paper, reading between the lines is critical. Trump’s 48 percent marks an impressive five-point swing since the same poll was taken in September, meaning it looks like his classified documents situation hasn’t hurt him politically.

Trump also scored higher among independents than Biden, with 50% support to Biden’s 41%.

The same poll asked several questions about how Americans feel about the Biden economy. This data is nothing short of a complete disaster for the struggling Biden administration, which continues to brag about the number of jobs while the prices of eggs, milk and gasoline remain excruciatingly high.

“Do you approve or disapprove of the way Biden is running the economy?” asked a WaPo-ABC News poll. A clear majority of 59 percent of registered voters said they did not approve. Sixty percent of independent voters said they disapproved of it, while 20 percent of Democratic voters said the same.

Will Trump beat Biden in 2024?

Biden absolutely needs that many disgruntled voters in his corner if he wants to stand a chance of winning in 2024.

Detailing current economic conditions and how Americans are feeling, the poll asked, “Can you say that you yourself are better off financially than you were when Biden became president, not as rich, or about the same financial shape? ”

Forty-one percent of registered voters said they felt “not so good” under Biden. Again, this leaves tens of millions of voters feeling the pain of soaring inflation and difficult economic conditions that could continue to worsen.

It’s no exaggeration to suggest that in 2024, at the polls, many of those millions of voters will remember how much less they had in savings accounts under Biden.

If that’s not enough to convince the Biden administration that another White House term may not come, the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll should be the proverbial nail in the coffin.

The poll showed that only 37 percent of Democratic voters want Biden to run for a second term. That number is especially bad compared to the same question asked ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, in which Biden scored 52 percent.

The kitchen table problems that many political scientists talk about affect elections in one way or another. When voters suffer financially — and many of them are under Biden — they tend to think back to those feelings of desperation and who was ultimately in charge and in charge as they prepared to cast their vote.

Should Biden be shaking in his boots? Absolutely.

Trump has already halted the campaign in New Hampshire and South Carolina with much-needed support early on. He also consistently responds to Biden’s constant slip ups and continues to garner tremendous support from him. Polls clearly reflected this energy.

It’s perfectly reasonable to assume that many who didn’t care about Trump in the past may change direction in 2024, as it’s undeniable that the economy has been much healthier under Trump.

A lot can happen in two years, but it doesn’t take a degree in political science to take a step back and see who is gaining momentum and who is quickly falling behind.
