Trenton Man Arrested for Shooting Death of Anthony Irizarry in Lawrence Township

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER) – Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri and Lawrence Township Police Chief Christopher Longo announced today the arrest of a Trenton man in connection with the shooting death of Anthony Irizarry. The arrest came after an investigation conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Lawrence Township Police Department.

Paul X. McNeil, a 37-year-old resident of Trenton, is now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder, first-degree robbery, and three weapons offenses. These charges were served to him this week at the Mercer County Correction Center, where he is currently detained on an unrelated case.

The incident occurred on August 11, 2023, around 12:30 a.m. when the Lawrence police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence on Mendrey Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, 36-year-old Anthony Irizarry, in the living room with a gunshot wound to his back. Irizarry was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The investigation into this case is still ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
