Trenton Man, 27, Dead After Stabbing Attack
Mercer County authorities have launched investigations into a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a 27-year-old Trenton man. The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are working together to unravel the circumstances of the stabbing, which took place on Sunday evening in the city.
According to reports, the police received a call about the stabbing around 10:46 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Authorities who rushed to the scene found the victim, Roger Martinez-Rodriguez, with a stab injury in his torso. Despite being transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment, Martinez-Rodriguez succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
As at the time of writing this report, no arrests have been made, while investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reminded the public of the high number of homicides that have occurred in Trenton in 2023. According to the official list released by the prosecutor’s office, Martinez-Rodriguez was the ninth homicide victim in the city in 2023.
The list includes Donnell Williams, a 29-year-old Trenton man who died from a shooting on January 16, 2023, Stephanie Vil, a 34-year-old from Burlington who was shot and killed on February 12, 2023, Khalil Glanton, a 23-year-old Trenton man who was stabbed to death on February 16, 2023, and Harold Rosario, a 19-year-old Trenton man who died from a shooting on March 24, 2023.
Others on the list include Nyeisha Saunders, a 41-year-old Trenton woman who was shot and killed on March 26, 2023, Jhosse Tolentino, a 23-year-old Trenton man who was also shot on March 9, 2023, Daniel Garvin, a 46-year-old man from Trenton who died on April 14, 2023, and Ralph Conquest, a 43-year-old Lawrence resident who died on April 20, 2023.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is working tirelessly to ensure the perpetrators of these crimes are brought to justice.
