Travis Scott to Surrender Next Week Over Alleged Hit at NYC Club: Sources
Police sources told The Post that rapper Travis Scott plans to appear for questioning next week in connection with an attack at a Manhattan nightclub in which he allegedly punched a sound engineer in the face.
The 30-year-old rapper, who is also accused of damaging $12,000 worth of audio equipment, jumped on a private jet bound for Los Angeles hours after the Nebula club scandal early Wednesday morning, sources said.
According to a police source, his representatives have since agreed that Scott will return to the Big Apple and speak with NYPD detectives as early as Tuesday.
The source added that he would likely be charged with assault.
Scott, who made headlines in 2021 for his deadly tragedy at the Astroworld festival, is due to perform at the Rolling Loud hip-hop festival in Los Angeles this Saturday.
His overnight crash began after sources said the “Sicko Mode” rapper climbed into a DJ booth while rapper Don Toliver, who was signed to Scott’s label, was performing at a West 41st Street club around 2 a.m.
Sources say he lost his temper when the sound engineer tried to turn the volume down.
Scott then unleashed and allegedly began smashing the victim’s equipment, including an audio speaker and video screen worth about $12,000, police said.
“Travis came in angry and drunk and slowly went crazy,” one source said. “On his shirt was written: “Back to hell.” As if he was ready for battle. It was an omen.”
A healthy man, identified only as Mark, 52, rushed himself to Jersey City Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon and was discharged hours later.
In a bedside interview with Fox5 New York, the victim said he couldn’t move his neck because the rapper allegedly hit him.
“Obviously my neck screwed up,” he said. “My hand is tingling. I have pins and needles in there.
Speaking of preparing for the alleged attack, the sound engineer said he was only trying to tell Scott to turn down the volume of the music “to make it sound good for the show, but he just jabbed his middle finger in my face.”
“So I lowered the monitor a bit to talk to him, and that’s when he ran around the speaker and attacked me,” he said.
Mark claims that Scott’s safety was allegedly life-threatening at the time.
A source close to Scott said on Wednesday that the incident was just a misunderstanding and that his team is working with police to sort it out.
“While this is clearly a misunderstanding fueled by clickbait and misinformation, we are actively working with the venue and law enforcement to resolve and rectify the situation,” attorney Scott Mitchell Shuster said in a statement.
“We are confident that our client will be cleared of any wrongdoing.”
