Trash talk: NYC Sanit boss Tish has a giant reason to smash the Empire State on the Eagles

New York City Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch took the Empire State Building’s decision to light up its façade green in the Philadelphia Eagles a bit personally.

The Tisch family co-owns the New York Giants football team, whose rival Eagles defeated the Big Blue in the division playoffs 38–17 on January 22.

So, political insiders have taken notice that the Tisch-led Department of Sanitation has released a crappy statement of outrage tweeted on Sunday night in response to the Empire State Building light show honoring the Eagles after Philadelphia thrashed the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday 31-7 to earn a trip back to the Super Bowl.

“To anyone who finds this as treacherous, treacherous and unforgivable as we are, just pretend it’s green and white for #NewYorksStrongest,” the Department of Sanitation taunted.

“We take out the trash every day… and next year that will include the Eagles.

Sources have confirmed that the department’s fiery tweet against the Empire State Building was the sanitation commissioner’s idea.

Her cousin Steve Tisch co-owns the Giants.

On Monday, Commissioner Tisch redoubled his efforts, telling The Post: “In addition to keeping our city clean, I will always defend the honor of New York, especially against the Philtadelphia Eagles.”

Meanwhile, offended politicians – from Governor Kathy Hochul local elected officials, whose district includes the Empire State Building, fled for cover.

“To be clear, New York State has no control over how @EmpireStateBldg lights up its colors,” said Hochul, a Buffalo Bills fanatic.

Governor’s spokeswoman Avi Small later added, “Governor Hochul is proud of all of New York’s professional sports teams and cheers for them every chance he gets.

“While the state does not control lighting decisions for the Empire State Building, New Yorkers can rest assured that the Hohul administration will never, ever light up the Philadelphia Eagles landmark.”

Mayor Eric Adams also saw the green light. “Unfortunately no one has received a memo at the Empire State Building, but we want to see good sportsmanship,” the mayor said Monday morning on CNN.

The Giants will be back next year and the Jets will be back. We will be glad when they restore their teams.

Queens Borough President Donovan Richardson ironically accused Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine of inability to impose team loyalty with the owner of the county’s most iconic buildings.

“@EmpireStateBldg knows it’s in Manhattan right? Take control of your area
@MBPMarkLevine,” Richards tweeted.

East Side Councilman Keith Powers, whose neighborhood includes the Empire State Building, ranted, “As a spokesman for the Empire State Building and a diehard Giants fan, let me go on record that this is absolutely ridiculous.”

The iconic building, named after New York’s Empire State nickname, belatedly defended the celebration of New York’s adversaries.

Its website says it planned to display the colors of the winning teams in the National Football League conference championship game on Sunday.

It later also lit up red and white hours after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23–20 in the AFC Championship Game.

“It hurt us more than you.” the building said in your post. “Now we rock for @chiefs in celebration of their AFC Championship win.”
