Tragic Florida Crash Takes Lives of Woman and 3 Children as Teen Driver Ignores Stop Sign
A tragic accident in Poinciana, Florida has claimed the lives of three children, their grandmother, and left several others with serious injuries. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when a 15-year-old driver failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with an SUV.
According to investigators, the devastating crash took place just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Laurel Avenue and San Miguel Street. The young driver, operating a Chevrolet Impala, disregarded the stop sign, resulting in a collision with a 50-year-old Poinciana woman who was driving the SUV.
The impact of the collision caused the SUV to spin out and hit a light pole before coming to a halt in the nearby grass. The aftermath was devastating. The woman driving the SUV and one of the children were pronounced dead at the scene, highlighting the severity of the accident.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and transported a 52-year-old man and two other children to the hospital. Tragically, both children succumbed to their injuries at the medical facility, increasing the already devastating loss. The ages of the children who tragically lost their lives in the accident ranged from 1 to 11 years old. The man in the SUV suffered severe injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The teenage driver responsible for the accident also sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Additionally, three other passengers in the teenage driver’s vehicle, all 15 years old, were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
