Traffic police officer hospitalized after car was involved in a weather-related crash in Navarro County
NAVARRO County, Texas. A Texas Department of Public Safety employee is hospitalized with serious injuries after he was hit by a car while investigating an accident in Navarro County Tuesday morning.
Officials said the incident appears to be weather related as black ice persists throughout North Texas.
Department told the soldier Curtis Putz was hit outside his vehicle around 8:45 a.m. on Interstate 45 near mile marker 220.
According to the agency, Putz was crushed by a car after the impact.
Putz was taken to a hospital in Dallas and is in critical condition, according to DPS.
Further details were not released as the investigation continues.

“We ask that you keep Soldier Putz and his family in your thoughts and prayers,” the DPS said in a statement.
