What Happened at Wisdom High School

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said the chain of events unfolded shortly before noon after a group of officers observed a “very aggressive group of people” on Westheimer Road near Hillcroft Avenue.

Houston police said officers spotted a robbery in which a man was shot and killed at an apartment complex on Westheimer Road shortly before noon Thursday. When they approached the group, police said, one of them pointed a gun at the officer.

It was then that HPD officer R. Aguilar once shot Nsenguweru. Medics took the suspected teenager to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The officer was not injured. There were no other officers.

According to police, Robinson was arrested at the scene.

Witnesses said that Silla asked a random driver for a ride to Wisdom High School. Finner said the driver simply “thought he was taking the child back to school”, not knowing that the child was involved in the police incident.

When Silla, who was identified by HISD police chief Pedro López as a student at Wisdom High School, reached the school, Finner said he entered an auditorium with at least 100 students. According to HISD, the school was put on lockdown immediately after learning he was on campus.

SWAT, Houston police and other law enforcement worked together to get Silla out of the school and into custody without injury, Finner said.

He said the gun was found, but did not specify if it was found on campus or nearby.

Wisdom High School Principal Kenneth Brantley made the announcement. the students were dismissed on Thursday at the usual timebut the dismissal process was a bit different to make sure all students and staff are safe.
