This weekend, local heroes were honored for their courage on the front lines.

COLLIER COUNTY, Florida. This weekend, local first responders received more than just money in gratitude for providing first aid. The Gary Sinise Foundation donated new equipment to the City of Marco Island and neighboring communities and $300,000 in grants to first responders for service and relief during Hurricane Ian.

The Marco Island Fire and Rescue Service will receive a grant for a new water rescue vehicle under the GSF First Aid Program. The program provides resources and funding for training and emergency relief equipment.

The $300,000 grants will be used to provide first aid to communities across southwest Florida that have been hard hit by Hurricane Yan. The grant aims to distribute thousands of meals and aid recovery for first responders and their families to support and honor the work they have done on the front lines.
