The state is using an “all hands on deck” approach in response to the “red tide”.

LEE COUNTY, Florida. According to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the state is taking a comprehensive approach to responding to the red tide that hit Florida’s southwest coast.

FDEP is working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Department of Health to ensure a coordinated state response.

The State is coordinating with local governments, including Lee and Collier counties, to provide resources to assist with cleanup efforts.

DEP, FWC and DOH held a response coordination meeting with affected local governments this morning to provide an update on current red tide conditions and ongoing response efforts.

Under the leadership of Governor DeSantis, the state has provided funds specifically to help local communities clear red tides.

The State will continue to monitor red tide blooms and is ready to work with all affected counties to ensure local needs are met.
