The star of the Texas tattoo renaissance attracts artists and clients from all over the world.

This weekend, the Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival caught the attention of many tattooists and eager clients.

“So I follow the Jedi wherever he is, so I fly in every 6 weeks or so to get a tattoo, and I have the privilege of getting a tattoo at the convention,” says Jamie Martinez, who traveled from Oklahoma City for the conference . agreement.

“Jamie is a longtime client of mine, she’s from far south San Antonio and lives in Oklahoma, it’s a good place for both of us to meet,” says Jedidia Reid, tattoo artist at Element Tattoo in San Antonio.

Reed has been coming to Austin for 17 years to attend this convention. At one time he worked with people from all over the world.

“It’s cool to be in an environment where there is art and stuff from all over the world and you can share ideas and look at hot new trends,” says Reid.

People were happy to take part in this agreement as they turned their sketches into something more permanent.

“We collaborate together, I let him know what I think, whether it’s a keepsake, a family member or something I’ve been through, he designs and we draw,” Martinez says.

This weekend has been full of excitement and opportunity for tattoo artists.

“This is a really good opportunity to learn because no matter what level you are in the game, you can always get better,” says tattoo artist Kasha Wildbird.

“Ask an artist what their technique is and I will say it’s cool because you are creating a community. I personally enjoy building a community and just getting to know people face to face,” says tattoo artist Jordan.

The tattoo show opened to the public on Friday and will continue until Sunday with live tattoos by artists of all styles, from traditional Japanese to photorealistic flowers and everything in between.

A full schedule of art and tattoo related events will also be featured, including tattoo contests, a kids area and unique vendors.

This year there will also be special guests from other art worlds: comics legend Simon Beasley from England and Ren & Stimpy co-creator Bob Camp from New York and humble artist Coop.

Show time on Sunday from noon to 19:00. Tickets are $25 for a day pass or $60 for a weekend pass. Children under 12 years old can visit for free when accompanied by an adult.
