The son of a firefighter who saved the victims of Hurricane Sandy is in the new FDNY class.

One of the rookie firefighters, due to graduate on Friday as part of the FDNY’s newest class, showed heroism before he even reached adolescence.

Brendan Woods helped his firefighter father Thomas Wood rescue the victims of Hurricane Sandy in 2012 when he was just 14 years old.

The two were at home in Bell Harbor when the superstorm hit the city, and Thomas donned a wetsuit to fight fires in the area and helped the families get to high ground on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens.

Meanwhile, his son has returned to the area with a surfboard and kayak to help save his neighbors.

Now 24-year-old Brendan, who lost his home in the storm, said the incident gave him an idea of what the department is doing.

“The most important thing after Sandy was how the rest of the fire department actually responded after we lost our homes and our community was hit by the storm,” he recently told The Post.

“The way so many guys from the fire department and other fire departments came together for us was a clear sign of the brotherhood and sisterhood that the department has.”

Brendan graduated from the University of Notre Dame and worked as an engineer before deciding to join the department his father retired from after 34 years.

Thomas, 66, received the James Gordon Bennett Medal of Valor for saving more than two dozen neighbors from a fire and flood during Sandy.

“Everyone kind of worked together,” the humble dad said. “I have a lot of great neighbors.”

Of his son, he said simply: “I am very proud.”

Brendan will join 288 firefighters on training at the Christian Cultural Center on Brooklyn’s Flatlands Avenue.
