The Shop Pizza + Wine Announces Late May Opening in Ocean Beach, San Diego.
The opening of a new restaurant concept, The Shop Pizza + Wine, has San Diego buzzing with anticipation. The restaurant is set to specialize in West Coast deep dish pizza and will open its doors in May 2023, at 1929 Cable Street in San Diego’s Ocean Beach.
The man behind the concept is Brett Herring who moved from San Francisco to San Diego to open a branch of his pizza restaurant in Rancho Bernardo in fall 2020. Herring has previously worked at Little Star Pizza in San Francisco, which is known for its deep dish pizza. For the new location, Herring has taken over the 1,221 square-foot space that last housed Mr. Moto Pizza Houses’s Ocean Beach location.
The restaurant concept at The Shop Pizza + Wine is centered around cornmeal-crusted deep dish pizza, but it also includes traditional thin-crust styles, salads, pasta, sandwiches, and more. The menu is expected to showcase dishes from small wineries, with a selection of consciously produced wine (organic, natural, biodynamic, or sustainable), available by the glass, flight, or bottle. The space at the restaurant boasts a small dining area with mezzanine seating and an outdoor patio.
