The San Carlos Bay-Bunche Beach Preserve will be closed every Tuesday and Wednesday starting March 7th.

LEE COUNTY, Florida — The San Carlos Bay Bunch Beach Preserve will be closed every Tuesday and Wednesday starting March 7th.

This should allow a state-licensed contractor to safely remove hurricane debris along the shoreline of the reserve.

Debris from the hurricane was washed off Estero Island across San Carlos Bay due to storm surge. Debris settled in mangrove swamps and on the southeastern edge of the reserve.

The beach, parking spaces, restrooms, boardwalks, and kayak ramps remain closed due to damage caused by Hurricane Yang.

The staff has worked with several agencies to clean up and restore coastal beach parks and reserves.

To ensure safety, contractors are keeping the road and beach off-limits to the public while trash is being cleared.
