Hello, Chancellor Johnson is writing to you today. It’s been a long time. I hope the new year treats you well – or at least better than the Rockets, who have yet to win a game in 2023.

Houston’s losing streak tops double digits and is in 12 games and counting. Unfortunately, the progress that we saw with the team at the beginning of this season has disappeared, especially in defense.

Recent issues with the Rockets have raised questions about the job of head coach Steven Silas. The team is currently heading for the worst record in the league for the third straight season, all under Silas’ watch.

Things to note:

  • While the team is looking for team success, they have found individual success in big man Alperen Sengun. With point guard Kevin Porter Jr gone, the Turkish native has more offensive options.

  • KJ Martin Jr. makes a brilliant dunk in almost every game, and next month he will have the opportunity to demonstrate it for all to see. The Rockets forward took part in a slam dunk contest during All-Star Weekend. It does years in a row with Rockets rep (Jalen Green competed last year).
