The next weather system could bring snow to the New York area

While three states are looking to bounce back from New Jersey tornadoes and the winter rainfall mix that has ruined the last few commutes for many, we’re already looking at our next weather system: and this one could bring snow.

Early models are hinting at decent late Monday to early Tuesday snowfall, especially north of New York and northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and parts of Connecticut. Whether or not it works, the looming system does signal an unsettled, tepid start to March, when another big system will begin this month.

Stay with Storm Team 4 for all the latest weather events as a lot can change in the forecasts over the next few days. In the meantime, the dirtiest nighttime precipitation is gone and the clouds will eventually dissipate.

We expect a cold snap on Friday – down to about 45 from about 48 on Thursday – and more cooling on Saturday when the highs are expected to barely break the freezing mark. On Friday, wind gusts will reach almost 30 mph, so it will soon feel winter again as cold winds drop into the 20s and 30s.

We’re looking at another split weekend in terms of weather, with chilly temperatures in the low to mid-40s expected on Saturday and possibly a few daytime gusts.

By Sunday we will return to above average temperatures. We’re monitoring another storm system that could hit in about a week, but at this point it’s too hard to predict how it will affect the tri-state area. While waiting for the rain stay in Storm Team 4 for all the latest weather events.
