The man is charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting on the road last month, according to court documents.

Aaron Grant, 36, shot and killed Jesse Metzger, 31, as he was riding his motorcycle on North Highway on January 27, according to court documents.

According to investigators, this happened just after midnight, when the deputies were detained in connection with a possible motorcycle accident in the Home Depot parking lot near Cypresswood Drive. They soon realized that Metzger had indeed been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators spoke to some of Metzger’s friends, who told them they had just had dinner with him at a nearby restaurant.

After leaving the restaurant, Metzger called his friends and told them he was being followed by a white jeep and was shot to death, authorities said. It was then that they informed the authorities that the call had been disconnected.

Investigators said Metzger’s friends went looking for him and found him in the Home Depot parking lot.

Grant was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday at 9 am.
