The funeral of former football player Everman, who was paralyzed during a state title match in 2002.
EVERMAN, Texas. Friends and family gathered Saturday in Everman to mourn the loss of Cory Fulbright, a former football player paralyzed during a high school game 20 years ago.
In 2002, when Fulbright was 17 years old, he broke his neck and suffered a spinal cord injury after hitting in the 2002 UIL 3A state championship game.
Twenty years later, Fulbright was hospitalized after his lungs collapsed while fighting pneumonia.
He died on February 8 at the age of 37.
Today has been full of sadness since the passing of Corey Fulbright. Corey played on the 01/02 state champion teams. He was injured in the 02 State game and endured the pain of that injury without complaint for 20 years. Those of us who knew him will miss him greatly. pic.twitter.com/h7dfIaCKcU
