The drug bust at the beginning
EARLIER, Texas. On Tuesday, the Early Police Department and the Brown County Sheriff’s Narcotics Department worked together to apprehend a suspect selling methamphetamines in the Brownwood and Early area.
The suspect vehicle was initially spotted behind the mall and pulled over for a traffic violation on the 800 block of early boulevard. When the police approached the car, they smelled a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.
According to an EPD press release, checking driver Jeremy Phillip’s records Whitley, 44, of Kansas City, Missouri, pointed to the Mills County warrant. Wheatley was arrested for outstanding warrants. The vehicle was searched due to the smell of marijuana, and officers found a bag of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and packaging for marijuana and methamphetamines. The officers also found some methamphetamines in Whitley’s possession when they arrived at the prison, where Whitley was trying to destroy the evidence, and the officers found the meth in Whitley’s shoe.
Wheatley was charged with manufacturing and delivering controlled substances (meth), a felony in the first degree; possession of marijuana, a felony in state prison; falsification of evidence, felony of the third degree; prohibited substance in a correctional facility, third-degree felony; and a warrant from Mills County for driving with a suspended license.
