The Astros Foundation announces funding for new baseball and softball stadiums on the TSU campus

The Astros Foundation is paying for two new stadiums on the TSU campus – one for the Tigers baseball team and one for the softball team.

HOUSTON. Texas Southern University athletes are well supported financially through significant donations from prominent locations.

First, the baseball and softball teams received support from the Astros Foundation, which announced that it would pay for new baseball and softball stadiums for TSU.

The Tigers baseball team played the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic over the weekend at Minute Maid Park, but there is no stadium on campus. This will change soon.

New baseball and softball stadiums will be on campus. Currently, the TSU baseball team plays at McGregor Park and the softball team plays off campus at Memorial Park. Now their fields will be much closer to the class.

“This partnership will make it possible for both students and the entire community to do so that children in this community can walk and play baseball or walk and play softball,” said TSU President Lesya Crumpton-Young.

It is expected that the construction of new stadiums will begin at the end of this year.

TSU also received a $1 million check from Ping, a golf company, and Hideoki, a luxury clothing company, to help with scholarships, internships, custom camping equipment, and more for the TSU golf team.

School officials call the donations a tipping point.
