The 19th Fight for Air Climb, an American Lung Association fundraiser, took place at Credit Depot Park Hall.

MIAMI (WSVN) – The American Lung Association hosted an event in Miami to raise awareness about lung disease.

On Saturday morning, the organization held its 19th annual climb fight with the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue at Credit Depot Park.

Participants were asked to climb 1,700 steps with lung disease and cancer.

“We are here with many other people, especially firefighters, raising money for the Lung Association,” said Dr. Mark Block, a thoracic surgeon at Memorial Cancer Institute. “Here hundreds of people collect thousands of dollars. This is our main event of the year.”

Among those who took steps was Cale Romney.

“We climb for everything from asthma to lung cancer, COPD,” she said. “We just want to support everyone who is suffering, including their families. We want to make the world a better place.”

The American Lung Association works to save lives by preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research.
