Texas State Senator Charles Schwertner arrested for drunk driving.

Austin, Texas – Texas State Senator Charles Schwertner was arrested early this morning for drunk driving.

According to prison records, the Georgetown Republican was incarcerated at the Travis County Jail at 2:12 a.m. Feb. 7 on charges of a Class B misdemeanor.

State Senator Schwertner is an orthopedic surgeon who has served in Senate District 5 since 2013. Prior to that, he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives serving the 20th House District.

Today at 11 am, Schwertner, as chairman of the business and trade committee, will chair a meeting on the power system and power outages.

As of 8:42 am, Schwertner remains in custody at the Travis County Jail.
