Texas Cavaliers River Parade makes a comeback Monday night.

The residents of San Antonio, Texas are getting ready to witness the first of Fiesta’s three major parades on Monday evening, the Texas Cavaliers River Parade. This event is the only parade that brings colorful sights to the San Antonio River, and tens of thousands are expected to flock to downtown to catch a glimpse of the decorative floats. However, before you start worrying about the weather ruining the fun, the good news is that despite the cloudy skies, no rain is expected to dampen the mood.

The parade will kick off at 7 p.m. and make its way down the River Walk, with nearly 50 floats set to take part in the spectacle. The grand marshal for the event is Charlie Duke. He is an Apollo 16 astronaut who, in 1972, became the youngest person to walk on the moon. Fiesta organizers introduced the parade back in 1941, and it has since become a significant part of the event, with the Texas Cavaliers – a charity-minded group of community leaders – observing a floating parade of flower-adorned boats in Mexico City.

The parade floats will embark on their journey from near Hotel Havana, winding their way to the more typically populated sections of the River Walk. For those who are positioned in the area of Market and Alamo, or at Shops at Rivercenter, the floats are expected to arrive between 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. If you’re enjoying a relaxed dinner at the restaurants along Crockett Street and Press, expect to start seeing them pass by between 7:45 p.m. and 8 p.m.

For those who still need tickets, a limited number of reserved seats remain available for sale along the parade route. Additionally, for visitors with disabilities, accessible areas will be provided for a closer view of the event. Visitors driving to downtown are advised to take note of road closures to avoid traffic headaches.

Finally, a photo gallery and video of the event are shared on the website, offering a more in-depth experience of this year’s Texas Cavaliers River Parade, which is one of the highlights of the annual Fiesta event in San Antonio.
