Tesla in the Bay Area drives into a Chinese restaurant

Randy Chen, owner of Little Hunan in San Mateo, was tending his restaurant around 10:30 a.m. Thursday when he heard what he thought was heavy machinery outside.

However, when he went outside to check on the hype, he saw a shocking sight. Tesla crashed into a convoy outside his store at 120 De Anza Boulevard, shattering a glass table the company uses for takeout orders.

“I’m not sure if the brake didn’t respond or if she hit the wrong pedal,” Chen said. “When we went to check on the driver, she was conscious but unresponsive, I think she was in shock.”

Upon further investigation, he realized that the Tesla had crashed into his Prius parked in front of the building, damaging the front right bumper in the process.

“He took my car and my shop,” he said with a chuckle.

Overall, Chen said he was happy that the driver of the car was not injured. He later took his Prius to an auto repair shop.

As for Chen himself? He returned to his post at the restaurant, preparing for the upcoming dining rush.

The San Mateo Police Department took to Twitter to draw attention to the dangers of distraction while driving.
