Telephone processing fee increased for Abilene utility customers

ABILEN, Texas. According to a press release from the City of Abilene, starting March 6, the number of utility customers will increase slightly when they pay their credit card bills over the phone.

A credit card processing fee is charged for phone payments by a third party provider. Processing fees do not increase city revenue.

Previously, those who paid their bill by calling 325-676-6405 were charged a minimum credit card fee of $2.25.

The minimum amount has increased to $2.95 due to supplier price adjustments. The fare change will affect anyone who pays $100 or less.

Telephone network customers with bills above this amount will continue to pay a processing fee of 2.95%, which means their fees should not be affected.

The processing fee for other payment methods has not changed.
