According to prosecutors, Depa “actually and intentionally touched or hit (the victim) against her will and in doing so used a deadly weapon and/or intentionally or knowingly caused grievous bodily injury, permanent disability, or permanent deformity.”

According to the sheriff’s office, the student first told deputies that Depa got upset when a staff member took his Nintendo Switch during class.

Video of the brutal attack shows a 6’6, 270-pound 17-year-old pushing a female employee to the ground, rushing towards her and pushing her to the ground. According to the deputies, from that moment she was unconscious.

According to the arrest report, a school resource officer said surveillance video showed the woman was pushed 5 to 6 feet before she hit the ground.

The deputies said that the teenager then started kicking and punching her on the head and back, inflicting a total of 15 blows.

First, Depa was taken to the juvenile department, and the employee was taken to the hospital for treatment.

“The actions of this student are absolutely appalling and completely inappropriate,” Sheriff Rick Staley said in a press release last week. “We hope that the victim will be able to recover both morally and physically after this incident. Fortunately, students and staff came to the aid of the victim before the arrival of the SRD. Our schools need to be a safe place for both staff and students.”
