Teen Shoots at SAPD Officers, Hits Patrol Car

In a span of seven days, San Antonio authorities have reported a concerning trend of police officers encountering armed suspects. The latest incident occurred on Monday night when an unidentified teenager opened fire on officers responding to a disturbance call in the area of Rigsby and Tyne. The teenager, who was reportedly angry and armed with a pistol, shot at the officers as they approached the scene.

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), the teenager fired multiple shots, hitting at least one patrol car and flattening a tire. Fortunately, no officers were injured in the incident. One sergeant estimated that the teenager was only 20 or 25 feet away from the patrol vehicle when he started shooting at the lead officer. Despite the father’s pleas, the officers stood their ground until the teenager eventually surrendered to the authorities.

The father of the teenager, who claimed his son is 15 years old, begged the police not to retaliate. The SAPD has confirmed that the teenager will face charges in juvenile court for his actions. Police have recovered at least two shell casings from the scene, but they have not disclosed the caliber of the pistol used in the attack.

This incident marks the fourth time in just one week that San Antonio police officers have faced armed suspects. In a separate incident earlier on Monday morning, authorities reported that police shot and killed an armed man after attempting to subdue him with a Taser. The recent string of incidents involving armed suspects has raised concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers and the community at large.

As the investigation into the shooting continues, the SAPD is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They are working diligently to ensure the safety of officers and the community while holding those responsible for such acts accountable.
