Teen caught with gun at Bronx high school: NYPD

On Thursday, police officers took into custody a 13-year-old boy after he was caught with a gun in his backpack at a Bronx high school, police said.

The police were called to the Academy of Personal Leadership and Excellence at E. 184th St. in Fordham Heights at 9:30 a.m. after school security officials were told the teenager had a gun in his backpack while on school grounds.

According to police, the teenager was dragged out of the classroom, and a .22-caliber pistol and an imitation pistol were found in his bag.

The police took the child to the house of the 46th precinct for interrogation. Charges have been filed.

No injuries were reported.
