Sweetgreen Opens First Long Island Location in Garden City

On Tuesday, Sweetgreen opened its first Long Island restaurant in Garden City on Tuesday at 191 Seventh Street according to a spokesperson for the restaurant.

For every meal sold on opening day, a meal was donated to Island Harvest to nourish Long Island families experiencing food insecurity. Island Harvest is one of Long Island’s leading food banks, distributing fresh produce and assisting thousands of Long Islanders daily through innovative programs and community partners.

The 2,600-square-foot location features a large interior dining area that seats up to 26 diners in addition to accommodating up to 18 diners outside. The primary entrance is on Seventh Street with a secondary entrance facing the building’s private parking lot. Sweetgreen has also commissioned Amber Vittoria, a local New York-based abstract artist and poet, to create an art series for the restaurant.

Alongside staple menu items, the Garden City location will open with Sweetgreen’s fall menu, which brings the Curry Cauliflower Bowl and Buffalo Cauliflower side dish with regionally sourced cauliflower from Turek Farm, as well as the Chicken and Brussels Bowl.
