Students and Families Start Making Roses for the Rose River Memorial

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) — Students and families at Sacred Hart School hosted a rose-making event for the Rose River Memorial Wednesday afternoon.

The memorial is a grassroots arts movement that uses eco-felt roses as a symbol of mourning for every life lost. The production of roses took place in different classes and gathered at the playground for a mini-prayer with roses.

The memorial has been shown in many locations including Los Angeles, Hawaii, and St. Louis. Officials said the goal is to create a national memorial that will be in Washington, DC.
