State Attorney Denies Governor DeSantis Claim About Orlando Shooting

Florida – Florida State’s Attorney Monique Worrell is opposing Gov. Ron DeSantis after he implied that her officer did nothing more to prevent a February 22 shooting in the Orlando area.

Governor DeSantis said Worrell was oblivious to the suspect’s criminal record.

However, Worrell counters by saying that Moses was on the street because he had not yet committed a crime that would justify life in prison.

Worrell published documents detailing four criminal offenses that Moses faced as a teenager, including robbery and grand theft, none of which ended in a conviction.

Worrell supports her contention that Florida law prevented her from prosecuting Moses for marijuana use when he was an adult.

However, critics say the state’s attorney’s office has the power to charge abusive minors as adults if they feel the crime is appropriate.

Earlier this week, Moses pleaded not guilty to the shootings of Dylan Lyons, Tionna Major and Natacha Augustin.
