St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputies have successfully closed down yet another illegal gambling arcade in St. Lucie County. The raid took place on Friday morning, at approximately 11 a.m., targeting Jackpot Corner, which is situated at 7177 S U.S. Highway 1 in Port St. Lucie.
This recent closure marks the fifth illegal arcade that deputies have shut down within a mere seven-week timeframe, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. During a news conference held on Friday, Sheriff Ken Mascara provided details on the operation, stating, “Upon entry, we discovered a total of 11 individuals within the establishment, and out of those, seven were actively engaged in gambling. It is important to note that one of these individuals had been previously arrested at the Rio Arcade, making this his second offense. The remaining four individuals were not gambling at the time and will be released shortly.”
Sheriff Mascara emphasized that this particular arcade differed from others that had attempted to conceal their illicit activities. Instead, Jackpot Corner was operating brazenly in plain view. “There was no hiding it,” Mascara asserted. “The process was straightforward: insert money into the machine, receive payouts. It was a full-fledged gambling operation.”
Following the raid, a total of 45 machines were confiscated by detectives. This successful operation further underscores the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to cracking down on illegal gambling activities within the county.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are determined to dismantle these unlawful operations and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. The closure of Jackpot Corner sends a clear message that illegal gambling will not be tolerated in St. Lucie County, and law enforcement will continue to diligently pursue all leads in order to safeguard the community from such unlawful activities.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office remains vigilant in its efforts to combat illegal gambling, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to local authorities, as their cooperation plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the community.
