Spring training continues as fans weather record-breaking heat waves in southwest Florida.

FORT MYERS, Florida. No matter what your favorite team is, there is something magical about clapping a glove and hitting the bat.

Fans from all over the country travel south not only to enjoy the warm Florida sun, but also to spend time in America.

But with the start of spring training, fans are experiencing a record-breaking heatwave in southwest Florida. When Fox 4 asked one fan how he manages to stay cool, his response was rather blunt.

“No, not really,” said Richard of Tampa, Florida.

Not being able to keep your cool is the right thing to do. Minnesota native Richard says he does his best to stay hydrated, but because he now lives in Tampa, he knows the heat.

“This is just part of the deal,” Richard added.

Richard was not alone, with many fans commenting Friday on how hot the past few days have been.

Kyle Whitney and his family are on vacation in Fort Myers. He says he spent a lot of time trying to stay cool.

“Going to the pool, staying in the shade,” Kyle said.

The father repeated these words.

“That’s what I heard. It’s usually a little cooler here, but still better than 20 degrees.”

With our northern friends reminding us we’re still in winter, the warm weather is why they come to Southwest Florida. Twins Florida director of business operations Mark Webb says despite near-record heat, Twins fans are still ready to emerge from the cold.

“How not to be excited about being in Florida this weekend,” Webb said. “We just got 20 inches of snow in Minnesota, and sunny southwest Florida is sunny and warm.”

And, as above-normal temperatures are expected to continue, Webb says fans can bring their own sealed water bottle to keep the stadium cool and drinkable.

“Our guests can bring a 32-ounce bottle of water, which must be unopened, or two 16-ounce bottles of water, or they can bring an empty container that they can fill at our water stations around the stadium,” Webb explained. .

And if you forgot your water bottle, no problem.

“If they need a 12-ounce glass of water with ice, we will provide it. Just ask and we will provide it,” added Webb.

Webb also says fans should wear sunscreen and stay in the shade.

But unfortunately, not every fan here on Friday will be able to enjoy the Twins Grapefruit’s first Saturday game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

“Tomorrow we are going to fly home by plane and it will be 20 degrees. So, without waiting to get off that plane, back into the real world of cold.”

As for the Red Sox, they will play North Port against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, but will return to Fort Myers on Sunday to face the Races. The Twins will be in Clearwater on Sunday to take on the reigning National League champion Phillies. All games this weekend start at 13:05.
