‘Spider-Man Pro-Life’ Climbs Phoenix’s Tallest Building and Gets Arrested

Police said the man, who is a professional climber, scaled Phoenix’s tallest building on Tuesday before being sent to jail on charges of trespassing and disturbing the peace.

Maison De Champs, 23, calls himself the “Official Pro-Life Spider-Man”. He climbed the 483-foot Chase Tower in downtown Phoenix in about 90 minutes to draw attention to his anti-abortion cause.

He sneaks into a non-profit organization called Let Live, which raises funds and raises awareness for women who want an abortion because they can’t financially support a child.

Let Them Live president and CEO Emily Burning told reporters that this is the seventh time Des Champs has climbed the building for this reason.

She said he had previously climbed tall buildings in other cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit and Oklahoma City.

Phoenix Police and the City Fire Department’s technical rescue team were waiting for Deschamps at the top of the 50-year-old tower, which has been empty since 2021.

Phoenix Fire captain Todd Keller was upset by the stunt.

“It’s so dangerous. You’re not only endangering yourself, you’re endangering firefighters. You are endangering anyone walking below or anyone near this incident,” Keller said. “This is an uncontrolled environment. This is Chase Tower, 40 floors. Very, very stupid.”
